The City of Eldoret on Thursday carried out a citywide clean-up exercise aimed at strengthening environmental stewardship and promoting responsible solid waste management.
The initiative, themed “Transforming mindsets for a better, cleaner city,” underscores the city leadership’s commitment to fostering a sustainable, healthy, and orderly urban environment.
City officials, alongside environmental advocates and residents, actively participated in the exercise, demonstrating a shared commitment to safeguarding the city’s cleanliness.
“This exercise serves as a reminder that environmental conservation begins with individual responsibility. Each of us must embrace proper waste management practices to keep our surroundings clean,” said Deputy Director of Administration, Francis Chirchir, who led the team.
He further noted that indiscriminate waste disposal contributes to the blockage of drainage systems, often leading to flooding and environmental degradation. “Such challenges are preventable if we all commit to disposing of waste in designated areas and maintaining proper sanitation practices,” he added.
