Eldoret City successfully completed the two-day technical assessment for the Kenya Urban Support Programme (KUSP II) on Tuesday, meeting all requirements and positioning itself to secure maximum performance-based funding.

The exercise was led by lead consultant Elizabeth Njau of ACAL Consultants, representing the World Bank team conducting the Annual Performance Assessment 2 (APA2). The team worked closely with the City’s technical staff throughout the evaluation.

The City Manager played a central role, guiding technical departments, facilitating documentation review, and ensuring the County Programme Coordination Team (CPCT) effectively responded to the assessors’ requirements.

The evaluation focused on the Urban Institutional Capacity Grant (UIC), Minimum Conditions (MCs), and Urban Development Grant (UDG) standards. The technical team assessed documentation, systems, and operational processes to determine the city’s readiness to implement KUSP II-funded projects.

The exercise concluded with an exit meeting where findings were disclosed, reports signed, and the final report handed over after Eldoret met all required conditions, securing eligibility for maximum performance-based funding.

The CECM for Lands and Urban Planning, Edward Sawe, praised Eldoret City’s performance, noting it positions the city to complement county investments and accelerate development.

Chairperson Alice Kositany reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to accountability, transparency, and prudent use of KUSP II funds.

City Manager Elzeba Busienei commended Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii and the County team for their exceptional support throughout the process.

She also lauded the City’s technical team for their dedication, noting that their performance had positioned Eldoret to attract maximum KUSP II funding, and urged them to maintain the same commitment in advancing the city’s development agenda.

The successful assessment marks a major milestone in strengthening governance, improving service delivery, and unlocking development opportunities for Eldoret City and Uasin Gishu County.
