City Manager Leads Dawn Sanitation Tour To Reinforce Cleanliness Agenda In Eldoret

In advancing Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii’s Nguzo Kumi development blueprint, which champions a productive, innovative, prosperous, and healthy community anchored on sustainable urban growth, Eldoret City Manager Elzeba Busienei on Friday led a pre-dawn inspection of the city’s central business district to assess sanitation standards and cleanliness efforts.

The early morning tour, which commenced at the County Headquarters, covered key areas including the Eldoret Main Bus Terminus, Trucadero, Shakers, Nandi Park, Fims, Langas Stage, Jua Kali, Eastleigh, and Tagore Stage. At each stop, the City Manager inspected drainage systems, waste collection points, and public sanitation facilities, while also observing the performance of cleaning teams.

Busienei interacted with residents and early morning traders along the route, commending staff who had reported on duty as early as 5 a.m. to keep the city clean and orderly.

“This city’s future is rooted in how we care for it today,” she noted. “A clean, organized city is not just about aesthetics; it is about attracting investment, promoting public health, and preserving the dignity of every resident. This is the spirit of Nguzo Kumi in action.”

She affirmed the city’s commitment to scaling up support for cleaning teams by providing additional Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) ,refuse collection equipment and enhancing waste management infrastructure.

The inspection concluded at Central Bank Park, where Busienei reiterated that cleanliness is a cornerstone of Eldoret’s vision to become a model city in Kenya.

The initiative was warmly received by residents and highlights a growing culture of accountability and public service within the city’s leadership. Since attaining city status in 2024, Eldoret has continued to raise the bar for urban management and civic pride.
